Grab a slushie and a large popcorn: Saudi cinema tickets have been reduced.
On Monday April 22, 2024, the Film Commission revealed that a hefty reduction in Saudi cinema tickets was underway and VOX is the second cinemas brand to announce reduced prices.
After a significant drop in film licensing fees was announced, home-grown brand Muvi Cinemas took it upon itself to be the first to drop its prices – announcing new permanently lowered prices on Instagram in May 2024.
Sit back and relax. Here is everything you need to know about the new Saudi cinema tickets.
Saudi cinema tickets
Muvi Cinemas tickets
Are you ready to know how much the new Saudi cinema tickets cost? At Muvi Cinemas, tickets start from SAR34 for day screenings and SAR39 for night screenings. Prices are the same on both weekdays and weekends. The cinematic brand has eight locations including Riyadh Season‘s Boulevard City, Park Avenue Mall, U Walk and Nakheel Mall. You can book your Muvi Cinemas tickets via muvicinemas.com.
VOX Cinemas tickets
Get ready to catch your fave stars in action on the big screen with VOX’s reduced ticket prices. In May 2024, the brand has announced that its standard tickets will permanently be available for SAR35 from now on. With a total of 18 cinemas across Saudi, you can head down to Via Riyadh, ROSHN Front and the ever-packed Kingdom Centre to check out flicks for the sweet new price. You can book your VOX cinema tickets via voxcinemas.com.
Reduced ticket prices
As mentioned previously, the pocket-friendly prices have been introduced as part of the Film Commission’s significant step towards lowered film licensing fees for cinemas across Saudi. The new fees apply to permanent and temporary cinemas. What’s more, the Commission is also urging cinemas to release more promotions to make the movie-going experience more affordable for everyone. Talk about a win-win.
While Muvi Cinemas and VOX are the first brands to introduce lowered prices, more cinemas are bound to follow. Keep an eye on Time Out for the latest updates.
Saudi cinemas
Movie theatres are massively popular in Saudi. Part of the mega-ambitious Saudi Vision 2030, the Kingdom is expected to have 300 cinemas with over 2,000 screens playing the latest international and local releases. Muvi Cinemas opened its first theatre in 2019 offering state-of-the-art technology and immersive experiences. Since opening the brand has opened multiple cinemas across Saudi.
Cinematic fun across Saudi
The Kingdom’s cinematic scene (get it?) is taking centerstage globally. With star-studded events like the Red Sea Film Festival, Saudi Film Confex and the home-grown Cinema Nights, movie-watching (and appreciating) is quickly becoming a cornerstone of Saudi lifestyle. The Kingdom’s breathtaking scenery has also been debuting in international movies with heart-pounding action sequences filmed in Dakar Rally‘s Empty Quarter, the ancient town of AlUla and UNESCO World Heritage site of Al Balad in Jeddah.
